What this is
Lower demand without turning rest into a task
RestSelf is resting body and mind as necessary to allow entering Witness. It is full surrender: no analysis, no improvement project, no proof that rest worked.
Rest has many dimensions. Physical exhaustion, mental noise, sensory overload, isolation failure, and recovery debt can all block Witness.
If body needs rest and mind needs recovery, or vice versa, allocate energy for rest. Continue when spare energy exists and you consent to be witnessed.
When to use it
Enter here
- When body or mind has no spare energy for honest Witness.
- When insight-seeking has become another demand.
- When sensory overload, exhaustion, or recovery debt is present.
- When you are trying to do the practice correctly instead of settling.
- After AcceptSelf, before WitnessSelf.
Practice
No task, no proof
There is nothing to follow. You can look, blink, drift, or ignore it.
If you notice yourself trying to do it right, stop or soften.
After working in Rest, return to Accept. Acceptance moves quickly when the mind-set is recent, but rest can take time.
State gate
Before moving forward
Is spare energy available, and do you consent to be witnessed by yourself?
If yes: Continue to WitnessSelf.
If no: Remain with RestSelf, or return to AcceptSelf if rest itself becomes self-judgment.
Anti-misuse clause
What this phase is not
RestSelf is not avoidance. It is demand reduction until Witness becomes possible. If rest becomes hiding from life, return through Accept and Regulate toward Maintain.
Many dimensions
Body and mind may recover at different speeds
A rested mind can still live in an exhausted body. A rested body can still carry a noisy mind.
RestSelf allocates energy to the dimension that cannot yet support Witness.
Exit rule
Only until Witness can arrive
Rest does not need to become perfect. It only needs to lower demand enough that status can be witnessed without turning Witness into another task.
When enough spare attention exists and consent to be witnessed is present, continue.
